Featured Artists 2025

Welcome to the Featured Artists section of Ocean Week Victoria! Each year, OWVic will collaborate with a selection of talented local artists who create prints that offer a unique and creative take on the ocean. These artworks reflect the beauty, complexity, and importance of our marine environments, and are available for purchase at Ocean Week events. Proceeds help support OWVic initiatives, making these prints not just beautiful keepsakes, but contributions to ocean awareness.

Jesse Campbell

Jesse Campbell is of Michif (Métis), Salteaux, Cree, Scottish, and English ancestry currently living in traditional Lekwungen territories. He has been a practising mural painter since 2010 and has helped produce many public art pieces throughout Greater Victoria and is now leading his own projects throughout the city. Since a youth, he has been inspired by the knowledge keepers of the land and the work of natural historians throughout the world. Jesse studied Biology and Environmental Technology at Camosun College from 2011-2018 and worked for World Fisheries Trust as a field researcher studying Pacific Herring and Olympia Oyster. Jesse’s mural work incorporates many themes including reclaiming the land for native species.

Cindy Wright

Cindy Wright is a printmaker and oceanographic scientist who lives in North Saanich, BC. She is primarily self-taught but has been mentored over the last 20 years by well-known printmakers in the technical skills of planographic and intaglio methods. She has a 25+ year history working as a marine scientist, from intertidal to abyssal plains of the Northeast Pacific. Her passion for marine life, its beauty and its perfection of form led her to take traditional printmaking techniques and apply new materials to continue the long tradition of nature printing to capture the organisms presence.
